dot Mom 2014

I had the best weekend going to this event, and I highly recommend it for all Moms’: younger, older, newer, more experienced- if you’re a Mom you’ve got to make it to this event. It was a packed weekend and FILLED me in a way that I truly needed. It was such a great time!

We (Pam, Ramona {Pam’s Mom}, and I) left out Friday morning after dropping Easton & Sawyer off at school, and getting our free coffee at McDonald’s. J
The event started Friday at 1 with worship, and then after a small break from 2:30-2:45, the breakout started. I really liked how they showed the weekend’s schedule. You could highlight the classes you wanted to attend, and then pick the best day/time to work around the other events. There were a total of 8 of us that went that weekend, but everyone split up when it came time to breakout, depending on what you wanted to sit in on. There were SO MANY to choose from that it was hard to decide, I wished they would have taught one more day!

At 2:45 I attended “Divine Weapons to Demolish Strongholds for Moms” by Leighann McCoy.

I could really spend a lot of space writing about how wonderful each speaker was, and sharing my notes, but I’ll pick my favorites to share to save space and time.
There was a break from 4-4:15, and then the next breakout began. Angela Cottrell (Travis Cottrell’s wife) taught “Help! How can I be a Godly Wife and Mother?” Dinner was from 5:30-7:30 (on your own), and then Worship began again at 7:30pm, followed by a Late Night Bash at 9pm. The 8 of us all met at Cracker Barrel for dinner and as soon as my belly was full, my body was like, “yeah, you’re done now, we’re shutting you down.” I did NOT want to miss worship that night, but knew if I made it through that I’d be falling asleep standing up for the late night bash. It’s probably the one time I wished I wasn’t pregnant. Our hotel was about 15 minutes away from the venue, and I didn’t want to make our group leave if I tired early, so I just had them drop me off at the hotel after dinner and thought I’d wait for them to get back. Ha! I crashed. Like, so hard that Pam said they came back and put their hand on my back to make sure I was breathing- and I slept through it! I have to try and make myself sound a little better by mentioning TN time is an hour behind us…but I did totally fall asleep early, ha ha.

Worship began at 9:30 Saturday morning and lasted through 11. Steve and Debbie Wilson were a couple that were platform speakers to lead us into our first class. They taught the marriage seminars and honestly, I hadn’t planned on attending one that weekend as I wanted to focus more on being a Mom. Y’all. That couple brought it. I think the whole auditorium was moved to tears as they focused (lovingly) on some of the pitfalls we get can fall into as wives. Temper, Irritability, Selfishness. I was more than convicted, that was one of those moments where you know God was there, and you can’t describe that feeling to people that weren’t in the room. God worked, and it was amazing. They went well over the end time of 11am.

“Expectations- sabotage a lot of good.

1.      We don’t talk about them- unspoken expectations will always lead to discouragement.

2.      Unmet expectations will always lead to disappointment. Don’t spend years dwelling on what your husband is not. If your husband can’t win, eventually, he will quit trying. What about your children? Do they get a win too? Are you constantly raising the bar on your family, to the point that you can’t be pleased?

3.      Unrealistic expectations will lead to defeat. Are you standing in the way of what a spiritual leader looks like for your husband?

Irritability

Have a temper, Mom’s? Somewhere as a little girl, you learned that fit-throwing worked for you. It got you what you want. Your brain says, “this works.” Temper people- it’s time to grow up. You’re just being selfish now and want to control the environment. You don’t want to take responsibility for your own actions. If you profess to be a Jesus person, He’s tired of your behavior too. It’s enough.

You yelled at _______ (insert child’s name) again. Can your child please his Mama?

Our irritability is pushing our children away from God. Don’t ever underestimate the power of your words. Sarcasm is acid to a child. You can’t show anyone else God’s love if you don’t know it for yourself. Until you grasp this, you can’t be filled to the measure of God.”

They led an altar “stand” at the end, and I don’t know a woman who was left sitting, dry-eyed. It was just amazing. Somehow everyone collected themselves and got ready for the first break-out session. You know how you just know God’s there? That morning set me up for what I needed to receive the rest of the seminars.

From 11:15-12:30 was the first breakout of the day, but like I said it was way later than 11:15. I chose “Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys” by David Thomas. He broke down development into 3 age groups: 0-4, 5-8, 9-12, and followed the outline, “He is….” and “He needs….” for each age.

Again, SUPER good, I would have spent the whole afternoon in that class, learning more about my little men. It made me appreciate them more, made me more excited to go home and try these new techniques. I was feeling so full and refreshed, and again, it’s something I would want other Mom’s to feel too. Being a Mommy is tiring.

Lunch was from 12:30-1:30 (Panera!), and the next breakout session began at 1:30. This time I chose “Corrective & Preventative Discipline” by Karen Alexander-Doyle. She’s a grandmother now and as soon as you heard her soft voice begin, you just wanted to be in her family. You wanted that kind of guidance around to help you raise your children. The kind of woman who seemed like patience was this never-ending thing she could provide, someone you could really enjoy talking to and learning from. I filled up pages from her, but these are my favorite highlights:

“Punishment- focuses on the past. The purpose is to get even with your child. The emotion usually felt is anger.

Discipline- focuses on the future. “I want you to become a man of God.” The purpose is growth. The emotion usually felt is love.

Preventative and corrective discipline go hand in hand. Preventative starts with your walk, Mom. God picked YOU for the children you have. You can do this. Don’t be defeated; it’s not too late to begin again. God is merciful.”

I couldn’t imagine the weekend getting much better, and we had a small break from 2:45-3, and then Worship began again. The Cartee’s led worship all weekend, and I’ve always said every day should begin with worship in an arena. They did a great job of leading worship with songs we knew, and sharing new ones they wrote with us.

Angie Smith, an author and hilarious woman, concluded the event for the weekend. She cracked us up with her stories and then brought on more waterworks as she talked about control. How we, as women, sometimes struggle with control in our household. She gave a humorous example of how her husband took her twin girls to Build-a-Bear for an afternoon, and on the outside she was like, “Bye! Have a great time!”, and on the inside she was thinking, “Don’t be out past their naps, or get anything Hello Kitty.” Can we not all relate? I could! She started with the example of Moses’s mother, how she literally had to let her hands off that basket, and give that control over to God. She asked, “How often do we grip our children with one hand, but then tell them ‘trust God, He’s got this’? Why would our children need a Savior when they’ve got Mom doing it for them?” Ouch, ouch, ouch. Then- I think this will be what I write down everywhere to remind myself- she said, “Our job as mothers is not to build up our children’s faith, it’s to build up our own, and know they are watching. We get to love Him enough that they want to love Him too. Show them a faith that leaves them no other option but to know that He’s real.”

I don’t really know if I could have cried more in one weekend?! Good tears too- not all guilty ones, just being filled with the Word.

I really wished that I had been able to sit in on every class, and was THRILLED when they were selling the audio CD of every seminar held that weekend- thank you!!! Now I can go back and listen to the ones I missed, yay!

It was such a fun girl’s weekend. I’m so thankful to all the husbands that were willing to stay home with the kids, and for my Dad who was willing to pick up Easton from school, and Cory from his school, just so this could happen. Thank you honey for keeping our boys busy, taking them to football games & a festival. Thanks to Pam for letting me invite myself and to her family for welcoming me in their group for the weekend!

16 Weeks

Out of the first trimester and it feels soooo good!!!!! I’m feeling more like my old self, got some energy back, and I don’t feel so wiped out during the day. It’s still been way hot for Zumba in the evenings, so I just took up running in the mornings when Easton is at school. Not so much running….but run/walking. It’s so hard to start back up any exercise after slacking off for weeks, but it does make me feel better after it’s done, so I just push myself to do it.

We had our last apt on Friday, the 12th, and everything looked good. The nurse had me lie back on the table and she exclaimed, “Oh! You are showing! I think we can actually measure you even though it’s a bit early!” Made me a little self-conscience since I know I’m showing early anyways, but the belly is what it is! Love hearing that sweet little heartbeat (160’s).

My Ob outsources their ultrasounds to a specialist at 19 weeks, so I have 3 more weeks to wait to find out what it is and it’s killing me to wait! Funny that it didn’t bother me to wait at all with Easton, but I’m feeling more impatient with this pregnancy. I think b/c all the planning depends on the sex- if it’s a boy, then Easton & the baby will probably share a room (not right away), but if it’s a girl, then Cory & Easton will probably share a room, and I need to repaint…in pink, please. J I know some women say they know what they’re having, but I really have no clue.

I first felt the baby kick at 14 weeks and was shocked b/c again, I felt like that was super early? I was just reading a book in the recliner and my stomach went nuts. When I say nuts- I mean nuts. I recorded it on my phone (sorry for poor lighting) because it was waaaay too early for the baby to kick that hard, and I didn’t think anyone would actually believe that the baby was moving that much. So glad I had my phone right next to me!

Can you believe it?! I sent it to my parents and Heath, and we all got excited, and then I didn’t feel the baby move once for the next SEVEN days. I was in tears, I just knew we had lost the baby and perhaps I had felt the baby having a seizure, because why would it kick so much one day and then not continue that? I was feeling really emotional at my Ob apt., and didn’t want to burst into tears and tell them I thought the baby died, and have them think I was silly and try to reassure me that I shouldn’t feel the baby right now anyways. I shouldn’t be showing this much, and I shouldn’t feel the baby kick already, but I am and it is! I did cry when I heard the heartbeat, I was so relieved. Then on the eighth day, sweet little thing let me know he was still there and mighty by giving me a few more kicks. Sweetest feeling ever. I’m trying to soak it all up, kind of sad this will be the last time I feel a baby kick, it’s such an awesome feeling. How could anyone doubt God’s existence and say He doesn’t perform miracles anymore?

Symptoms/Cravings- nothing, really. Smells aren’t bothering me as much so I just feel like I’m eating more normal. I’m finally getting to enjoy vegetables again! Heath says I seem more like my old eating self. Carbs don’t have as much appeal as they did, meaning I don’t want them every meal, so that’s great. 3 meals a day of pasta wasn’t too healthy….eek. No crazy pregnancy symptoms either, basically I feel better than I have in 16 weeks, lol. I’m really trying to stick to everything Advocare has taught me: how to eat/snack, portion control, following their recipes, etc., and am hoping I can bounce back quicker! There are some products I can’t take while pregnant, obviously the weight loss ones, but I am taking my Omega’s, and Coreplex w/Iron. Knowing I can get my 24 day challenge at a 40% discount after baby helps too!

Now for preg pic’s….the first one is me after Cory’s afternoon football game and I look a hot mess. It was HOT outside. The next day God sent us cooler weather, yay!, and I got to wear some maternity jeans. I like that I can wear some of my clothes still, but I do tire of wearing dresses all the time, and I feel like I look more pregnant in maternity clothes. It was the first comment I got by a stranger that recognized the bump, I was so excited! I’m officially ready for the weather to change so I have more clothes to wear. Having had winter babies, I never showed in the summer and have zero clothes for this stage right now. I’m rotating out the same things over and over, but I refuse to buy shirts to wear for the next 4-6 weeks. C’mon on weather, change!

I’m so excited about this upcoming weekend! Pam and I are going to a dotMom conference in Tennessee, hosted by Lifeway, and I’m looking forward a refreshing weekend. It’ll be some kid-free time with other Mom’s my age and a great time of worship! All the seminars held this weekend are geared towards Mom’s: young Mom’s, expectant Mom’s, more seasoned Mom’s, and Grandmother’s. It’s Pam’s second year going and my first and I can’t wait!!!!

Easton's speech update, Praise God!

When Easton first had his speech evaluation in April, he failed the hearing portion of the test. The woman who was conducting that part said it was probably fluid in his ears and to expect an ear infection within the next few days. She was right, and when we were at the pediatrician’s office the following week, we discussed possibly referring Easton to a specialist (basically an ENT), if he failed another hearing test after the antibiotics cleared up the fluid.  I didn’t want to- we’d been there and done that with Cory, numerous times. Cory’s had tubes put in his ears twice, his tonsils removed, and still has ear trouble. We’ve since learned with Cory that we could pretty much chalk all that up to allergies. Once he was older we discovered he’s allergic to grass (nothing we can do about that!), and cat/dog hair. Even with his nose spray and allergy meds, he still sneezes constantly (darn grass), and has frequent upper respiratory infections. He still wears ear plugs when swimming/bathing, and he knows that he’ll probably get swimmers ear if he’s diving repeatedly. That took over 4 years to figure out though! So once an ENT was suggested with Easton I just said no. I was determined that even if it took longer to figure out the cause, we were not going through all that again. Tubes are not always the answer. Our pediatrician was so, so nice and said he’d back me up 100% whatever I decided. He just reminded me to be patient as we figured it out.

We finished the antibiotic and went back for a hearing test at the pediatrician’s office after 14 days. Failed. Next step was a more sensitive hearing test, outsourced at a center in Athens. We went to that apt., and they said they’d send the results to our pediatrician, but it looked like acute hearing loss. I knew not to freak out at that term, but was still ticked- if I didn’t know what that actually meant, I probably would have bawled thinking my baby couldn’t hear. A week later we were back at the pediatrician’s office for the results. Failed. I wasn’t surprised because we hadn’t done anything to treat the fluid in his ear yet, we were just taking more hearing tests. That’s when we tied his delayed speech in with all the ear troubles- it made perfect sense!

We started over the counter allergy meds and a nose spray, and this time my pediatrician urged me to see an ENT. He said we could still avoid tubes, but he would be more knowledgeable as to what the next step would be, if the meds didn’t work. He referred us to an ENT in Athens, and we tried again. After waiting ONE HOUR in the waiting room, I finally asked what was going on. Was there an emergency, were we not booked, should we reschedule…..? The receptionist was not the least bit friendly and said they had a new computer system and it was putting things behind. Finally we were taken back and waited another half hour in our room when I stuck my head out again. I explained to the nurse that we’d been there an hour and a half and wanted to know how much longer we should expect to wait. She said she’d send the doctor right in. The doctor did come in and he seemed rushed too. He asked me to explain what the troubles have been, but then interrupted me to say he’d get a hearing test done, and walked out the door. I had to literally call out down the hallway to him, “We’ve already done hearing tests, you have the results, and I am not finished.” I’m sure he loved me at that point, but he did come back in the room, and then for whatever reason decided to give me a lecture on the inner ear. He pulled out his diagrams and started to explain how the ear works. I listened because I was sure there was a point to his speech, and then he followed up by saying he’d be right back in to discuss allergy medications. He left the room again, and then I heard him go right next door into the next room and greet that patient, “Hi! I’m Dr. _________, how are you doing today?” I was boiling at this point, and just gathered up our stuff and left. None of the nurses asked me where I was going, nor the receptionist, and we never heard back from their office, ever.

Back to the pediatrician! I love him by the way, have I said that? He just laughed when I told him what happened and said he could refer us to another ENT, but if I still didn’t mind being patient, we’d just try out different allergy meds and repeat the hearing tests every 2 weeks, no ENT. I was completely fine with that- anything over surgery. From April-August we played the guessing game with different brands before Easton FINALLY passed his first hearing test on August 14th!!!!!! I was SOOOO happy we had found the answer!!!!! NOW we know why his speech was delayed, the poor guy couldn’t hear for months, and who knows how much time passed before we even discovered that. Yay, my baby can hear!!!!

He started school on August 11th...

....and between that and being able to clearly hear, his language has BLOWN UP. I am so proud of him! Family and friends have noticed a huge difference in him too, and Heath and I are thrilled. Easton jabbers non-stop now and is finally enunciating. The stutter is gone, I’m guessing that was developmental, but praise God, our baby can hear!!!!

12 Weeks!

Yay, we’re pregnant! I know, same opening as last blog post, but sometimes it’s still hard to believe.  At 12 weeks, 5 days, I feel pregnant now, and my expanding waistline reminds me I am, but I feel like I get more caught up with life now. Cory started 4th grade & football, Easton started 3 day/week preschool, I’ve been baby-sitting here and there, we joined a new Sunday School class, I had a birthday, we’ve been planning for vacation, and life feels busier- in a good way! Sometimes I feel guilty for not thinking about being pregnant more. I know the time is coming when I can’t ignore it, so I’m thoroughly enjoying the “forgetting”. Also I’ve been trying to do a lot of “big kid” activities before the new baby comes and I’m loving each stage the boys are at. I’m busy being a cool Mom and taking my children to 7:30pm movies- what?!

This “he/she” thing is going to get weird to type, so I’ll just randomly refer to the baby as a “he” or a “she” but don’t get excited, because we know nothing yet, and won’t find out the gender until October. Instinctively I call him “him”, but I think that’s just my past experience talking.
We had our 12-week apt & ultrasound on August 15th and it’s so amazing to see how much the baby’s grown from our first 7-week apt. The first apt he looked like a little kidney bean and I was shocked to see how much he looks like a little baby now!

7 weeks:

12 weeks:

Isn't he so cute? ;) Heartbeat was in the 160's- way high (girl)- but my doctor said it's too early to go by that. Pooh.

I know what a baby’s heartbeat sounds like, I’ve had 2 pregnancies before, so I wasn’t prepared for how emotional I got while hearing our baby’s heartbeat and watching him kick and wiggle! It just never gets old! I didn’t expect it to get old….just… I don’t know what I was really expecting?.. but it’s the same sweet little rush of emotions you get with each child. It somehow made the pregnancy feel more real. I feel like there’s always a moment where you’re like, ‘whoa, I am pregnant’, and that was it for me. Baby #3 is coming. I almost had a slight panic moment where I felt like we needed to sell the house and buy a van, but I calmed myself down.

Symptoms/Cravings- No cravings really, more like food aversions. My best meal is lunch, my worst is dinner. Usually Heath cooks dinner and I sit outside in the heat to get away from the smell, and then eat cereal or ice cream before bed. Ha! Basically anything hot is a food aversion. Vegetables, which are one of my favorite foods, are on the ‘do not cook in the house’ list. Meat of any kind is also disgusting. Anything cold is fantastic! I’m a grape-addict for the moment, oranges also make me salivate to think about, any fruit or cold dish is a yes. I am FIGHTING the carb cravings, but feel most unsuccessful. Since carbs have no smell, they are generally on my ‘sure, why not’ list, and I do not like the amount I’m consuming. Even Cory commented that we never get to eat the things I’ve been buying lately, and he wants me to be pregnant again. Sorry, kid. My weirdest (as in not typical for me) craving was a Coke float. I don’t even know if I’ve had one before? Definitely not in the last 10 years. One night that was it though, I knew I needed one. Heath went to Kroger and bought the Coke and ice cream, and I took a huge gulp and was like, “this is disgusting- who drink this? Throw it away!” Sigh. I hate myself sometimes.

As far as symptoms go...ya'll know how it is. It's like being a baby yourself. I either want to sleep or eat all the time.
I plan to post every 4 weeks with a picture, it’s fun to watch the bump grow! I’m still in the stage of the game where if you don’t know me you might miss the belly, but then I just feel fat and would rather wear tighter clothing & show that it’s not chips and salsa, it is a round baby bump. Don't think I'm not showing though- this belly has popped! It's not bloating, like my pregnancy app suggests. However, I’m fully aware that maternity clothes come next and it feels like you wear those forever, so I’m not complaining that I can still wear most of my clothes. Pam was SO, SO nice to let me borrow these elastic-waist shorts from Loft. They are so comfy, and will carry me through to Fall when I’ll resign myself to maternity clothes. I do love the confidence that comes with being pregnant with your third baby. I’ve done this before, I know how miserable the last stage is, I know to enjoy the small things (like sleeping- I loooooove sleeping through the night right now, pants with a button, etc.), and I just feel way more relaxed. I don’t worry that if I’ve rolled onto my stomach that I’ve maimed the baby, nor do I feel the need to call my Ob about every stretch & pull. It’s just so nice to enjoy it and know this is our last baby, and my last time being pregnant.

These are my, "did she just eat a huge meal?" pictures:

And hopefully, these are the "oh- she's pregnant" shots:

I love, love, love that my boys are old enough to understand what's going on and are excited about it. They regularly talk to the baby, and Cory is so sweet to offer to do more things around the house for me. He'll make a great husband one day! Easton blows raspberries on my stomach at night and dies laughing when I tell him the baby's going to get him.

The biggest concern to me right now is delivery. I'm not considered a high-risk pregnancy, but after the complications with having Easton, my Ob wanted to talk about some of the precautions they'll take this time in the OR. I'll have this baby in the main OR, as opposed to the one on the labor/delivery floor, basically with a team of people ready for "just in case". They'll have my blood type ready to go at delivery and will give me Pitocin after delivery to make sure my uterus contracts this time. The side effects won't be too bad, but if it doesn't work, some options are to cauterize an artery to my uterus, or a hysterectomy. Yikes. I didn't want to even hear those things. It seems silly to stress about it now, but how can I not? I'm upset about it. Here's my prayer request: please pray that my uterus contracts at delivery. Sounds like the silliest request, but it's not to me. I need a contracting uterus, prayer friends.

On a happier note, I have sweet, sweet boys awaiting this baby and can't wait to add to our family in February!!!

We're Pregnant!

Yes, we're pregnant!!!

We're so excited to share that we are pregnant with Baby #3! It has been such a journey to get here. For those of you who kept up with my school thing, you know that after having Easton I went that route and planned to take it as far as I could. I struggled with that decision only b/c I knew how the timing would be...I would have started my 2 years this January and Easton would be 5 by the time I finished. I knew that I probably wouldn't have another one at that point. The struggle came in because we wanted another baby, both of us. We just felt like God was giving us an opportunity with school and felt like He was confirming that for us along the way. Once I had applied and interviewed, I told Heath that I truly would be happy with being accepted or denied- because if denied we'd start trying. Well, I never planned on being accepted and denied (they shut the program down), but I still was excited about trying to conceive. So we tried....and nothing....and nothing....and nothing. I wish I could say I was a bright, positive ball of light during this time, but I wasn't. I was worried, I was angry, I was confused, and then I started to wonder if something was wrong. It was such a lonely feeling, will probably write a post on that in the future. Finally....

7 positive pregnancy tests later........ our baby!!

So EXTREMELY glad school was cancelled. I know I would have went that route, and I'm so thankful for this addition to our family. This baby almost didn't happen.

I'm due at the end of February, and with me being only 8 weeks, I hadn't planned on sharing the news just yet, BUT, my body on the other hand had other plans....

Not pregnant                                  Pregnant!

I couldn't hide that bump! It just came from nowhere?! I was like, either I share the news or people are going to wonder. I felt so self-conscience at church for awhile, and now I'm glad it's out there- that is not chips & salsa, it is our baby!!!

The ultrasound confirmed it's just one baby (whew), we can confirm that it will be our last, and I 100%, without a doubt, do not care what the sex of this baby is. I've had SOOOOO many ask, "but you secretly want a girl, right?" No, actually, I don't secretly want anything. I have 2 awesome, sweet  boys who loooooove their Mama and I'm in no hurry to give up the princess title here. ;) I've only had one negative comment that "it would just be weird if I had another boy." Ha- sorry that I don't feel the same!! I'd be honored to raise all boys, as long as they know they come home to me for Christmas!!

Zumba!

My soul has found it's true love..........Zumba!!!!!!!!!

I was hesitant to go, and now I'm so glad Rachel asked me. It's finally the one form of exercise I LOVE. We tear up the floor every week, don't we girl?

Some of the benefits of Zumba-

I can testify that it does burn some major calories- you'll leave there feeling it! My first night I came home starving and ate 3 helpings of dinner, ha ha. Paired with AdvoCare it helped tone things that needed toning.

We had 80's night back in March and just had 90's night last week. An excuse to crimp my hair? I was so excited to try it- although I had NO idea what a process it would be! I didn't have a crimper (or know anyone with one), so I braided it while it was damp, let it dry, sprayed it with hairspray, and that was some BIG hair!! I did love the body it gave me, but don't think I'll make it an everyday look. ;) Heath kept saying, "You just....look....different." Ha ha!

Before:

After:

 My hair was BIG!!!

80's night was fun, but I didn't know most of the music. 90's night, however, was the time of my life! We threw it back to Britney, Christina, MC, Spice Girls, "Macarana", "Barbie Girl", "Jump Jump", it was SO fun! Here's some pics they took on their phone- some are crazy angles!

That last one kind of makes me look like I have a halo...!

This is our instructor Danielle (on the left), who is an amazing dancer. I've never been to another Zumba class before, but I've heard it's a lot of salsa/reggae- not so with Danielle. Most of the routines she makes up to current music and it's just a blast dancing to them. After the hour I'm dripping with sweat...y'all wanted to know that, right?

80's Night
Danielle and Lacey

If you want to try it, first class is free at the Rec Dept!!!

Saturday's Mixer

Hosting and attending events is probably one of the things I enjoy most about working for a company like AdvoCare. I like talking and meeting new people, I love the products and sharing my results (hello 24 day challenge), and something I've just recently tapped more into is the income opportunity. I started out for the discount, worked my way to Advisor level, and was happy there for the past two years. My products were paid for, we were bringing in extra income, and I was good.

Watching Danielle and her husband, Jonathan, really take off with the company is what made me want to know more. I watched Danielle go from being a full-time teacher, to being able to supplement her teaching income within one year. She came home from work to be with Baby Jase May of 2013. Their next goal? To bring her husband home from work too. What?! Sounded crazy- I had heard of stay at home Mom's, sure, but a stay at home family? I don't know one....not one. This past May they brought Jonathan home from work. They are the first stay at home family I know. Their friend who got them started? He just paid off his mortgage- in 6 years. WHAT?! Now I was listening.

Danielle came over Sat morning around 10am and stayed until almost noon, sharing with us her incredible testimony: how many families she's been able to help since she's started, the people she meets while traveling, the trips she earned, Success School in August. I already know why I enjoy doing what I do, but it was so refreshing to have her come and give me encouragement. She speaks at many events all over the country and I was very thankful for her time here!

In a nutshell, Advocare does two things- helps people get in the best shape of their life, and offer income opportunity. Whether it's to pay off debt, save for retirement, pay for college, get out of a dead-end job, or even just the small things- gas, groceries, gifts, etc. We're on one income and just having extra gas money sometimes is a big help- I'd love to be able to help add to our household, or even cover our next car payment so it's less stress on Heath to provide everything. I've met some sweet families and connected with people that I otherwise probably wouldn't have met.

One of the biggest perks is picking your own team: I get to choose who I work with- not just ensuring people of good, moral character, but also those with integrity who want to better their families lives too. You can tell the difference!

Thanks again for coming out Danielle. We had a great time!!
