I can't say enough good things about the Seagraves' family. If you know them, you know how awesome they are, and you're blessed to have them in your life. Last year the Seagraves' started their first year of a week long, day-camp at their house. Cory was at his Nana's that year and couldn't make it, so this summer I made sure not to schedule anything around him attending. I knew he would love it! He has never really spent time on a farm so this was going to be a new experience for him. The theme for the week was "Life is good," it ran days only, from 9am-3pm, and they had different activities planned throughout the week. Tuesday was Cowboy Day, Wednesday was Water Day (and a mud fight), and Friday was Parent Day, where parents came from 2-3pm to see all they had been working on throughout the week. He was told to wear clothes that could get dirty and bring a good attitude.

We weren't sure how many of the other kids he would know and I was kind of nervous for him, but once he opened the car door on that first day he saw friends he knew from church and took off. He actually never even came back to hug me bye, he was having too much fun. Easton was
dying to play too. He was running circles in the driveway trying to dart in the house and pretty much grab anything stationary so he could stay. He kept saying, "E-ton play, E-ton play," and screamed when I buckled him back in the car.
After Easton's nap we headed back to pick Cory up. He was sitting on top of a hay bale when I pulled in, waving and calling my name, it was precious. He talked
ninety miles an hour in the car telling me about his first day: what he ate for snack, about Bible time, how nice Ms. Macy is, how he's not in Ms. Landis' crew but that's okay, how he cleaned a cow and
shoveled poop (I can't even believe it), the jar he made, the mud fight that was coming up, and all the games they played. He was so pumped about his time there and once we got home, he got everything ready for the next day and put it by the door.
The whole group eating lunch outside.
He ate two dinners that night (I dread the teenage years), and crashed about 7:30pm- WAY early for him. He slept all night though and I had to wake him the next morning. Macy worked 'em! :)
Day 2: Cowboy Day! I tried to find some cowboy boots for him to wear, but for some strange reason, no one sells them in the GA summer? Weird....He wore his gun holster complete with his gun, his cowboy hat, and some sort of bandana thing around his face.
Such a serious face! They had their morning devotional time, played some cowgirl/cowboy games, went on a nature walk (complete with a pet cricket), washed & fed the cows, learned about goats, and I'm sure tons of others things he didn't even mention. He did make sure to mention the snack for that day- homemade ice cream w/chocolate syrup- yum!
Day 3- Water Day! This was when the weather man claimed rain for the next 5 days and I was a little worried it might cancel, but true to her word, I got a text from Macy that morning reminding us it was water/mud fight day and to wear old clothes. This was Cory's favorite day yet.
Day 5- The 4th was a family day, and camp started again right on time Friday morning. Heath was off work so he was able to ride with us in the morning and come to the parent time from 2-3pm at the close of camp that day. We were shown a slideshow of all the moments they had captured on film that week, there was a delicious snack and refreshment table, all the kids showed their parents what they'd been working on all week, and then they recited their memory verse, Romans 8:28.
They had a busy week indeed! Mr. Josh shared with the kids why he loves being a first responder and fire fighter. Mrs. Laura guided them in molding clay pots and taught about the importance of dirt and clay. She talked about how clay is used to mold and shape, and in the same way, God molds and shapes your life as much as you will allow him. (Isaiah 64:8) The Seagraves live on over 90 acres of land and show cows, and taught Cory how important it is to appreciate farmers and ranchers who work to bring you food.
I so appreciate all the hard work that went into this preparation for the week of camp! I know Cory loved it, and I could relax knowing he was in awesome hands during the day. Thank you to everyone for the week of fun and for loving on all the kids. Thank you Macy for directing the week, and organizing everything! I've appreciated every detail of hard work and planning you did to make this week fun. You're an amazing young woman and I'm glad I got to know you a little better this week!
